My Approach to Coaching
My approach to coaching is a personal one. I believe that the coaching relationship is built on communication and collaboration while helping each client along their path to success. Each person is unique and I approach each client’s journey as just that, unique to them. In addition to my coaching training, I am also a licensed mental health professional so I have an in-depth understanding of behavior change and what it takes to tap into personal motivation. Coaching is not a substitute for therapy and I do not see clients for therapy.
Unlike some coaching programs, I only take on a few clients at a time. I provide all of the coaching services and those services are 1 on 1. I do not currently offer group coaching. I limit enrollment so that each client receives the time and attention from me that they deserve. It is difficult to say how often spots open due to individual coaching needs. I do post openings on this website as well as on my Facebook page.

A Little About Me
I have worked in the field of behavioral health for over 20 years. I started my career as a licensed mental health professional working with people from all walks of life. As my practice grew, more and more people started asking about help for managing their life goals. These were people who were well-adjusted, motivated and seeking support and guidance as opposed to treatment for a mental health issue. I decided to learn more about coaching and a new passion was born.
Also during this time, I was pursuing a personal transformation. As someone who has struggled with a lifelong weight issue, I had to find my path to success. Along the way I succeeded, I stumbled and I learned a lot. I developed a passionate interest in health and wellness. People started asking me how I lost weight, how I manage my lifestyle and if I could help them. And my coaching practice was born.
There are a lot of qualified therapists and coaches out there. However, one thing I found was that there weren’t a lot of people like me out there. I found lots of trainers, a lot of coaches who had no first-hand experience with weight management and a lot of people who had no true understanding of behavior management and change. I found a few but not many. It was in that moment that I decided to step up and share what I’ve learned about behavior, about weight loss, and about being successful.

As a therapist-coach, Dr. Ferrara specializes in personal and lifestyle coaching with special interest in Stress Management and Weight Loss/Fitness. She is an ACE-certified Health Coach and Weight Management Specialist. She is also a licensed mental health clinician (LPC & LMFT). Her practice is currently limited to personal and wellness coaching.
